Message from Mayor Mike Sadouskas:
I would like to welcome you to the web site of the City of Villa Hills, Kentucky. I hope that you enjoy our site and find it a valuable way of learning more about our community.
Villa Hills is a beautiful community built on what was once gently rolling farmland. Nestled along the Ohio River, Villa Hills still offers the flavor of a trip to the country and yet is extremely convenient to downtown Cincinnati, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, excellent schools, places of worship and a wide range of dining and shopping possibilities.
Thanks in part to a loan of $300 from the Villa Civic Club, the City of Villa Hills was incorporated on June 7, 1962. A lot has changed over the past forty-three years, but one constant is the neighborly spirit and sense of volunteerism exhibited by the majority of its nearly 8,000 residents. In 1994, Villa Hills was designated "America's Most Livable City".
Some of the landmarks in our city include Villa Madonna Academy, Saint Walburg Monastery, Madonna Manor, River Ridge Elementary School and the Villa Hills Civic Club, which overlooks Franzen Lake. The Civic Club's Franzen Field and Villa Madonna's Tom Braun and Bud Cunningham Fields offer young people all over Northern Kentucky the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports.
Each year people come together to participate in many community events, including the Fishing Derby at Franzen Lake and the Halloween Haunted Trail. There is also a recreation program each year that offers a Bicycle Rodeo, Craft Day, Fire In The Hills Independence Day Festival and other events that are fun for people of all ages.
We have a lot more to be proud of. Each month, Villa Hills' residents are afforded the opportunity to read community news and other items of interest in The Voice of Villa Hills newspaper. There are a number of volunteer groups that contribute much to our community, including the Iris Club, the Villa Hills Garden Club and the Villa Hills Historical Society. And, Villa Hills was the first Northern Kentucky city to begin a recycling program that is still going strong today.
The Villa Hills City Council meets every third Wednesday of the month. The volunteer firefighters and life squad members of the Crescent Springs - Villa Hills Fire Department ably serve our residents. And, Police Chief Daniel Goodenough and his excellent department protect the city and provide a variety of community services.
